Re: Someone wanna go get catastrophre?
Look, I can see a game that's popular going from a 1e to a 2e pretty quickly because it gets popular and inundated with ideas, requests, suggestions, etc, from gamers. OK, so if the company listens to the public maybe it dues a 2e fairly fast as the game evolves to meet the wishes of the players.
Going from a 2e to a 3e might happen fast or slow, depending on how well the 2e was recieved. If it was well done there may not be much or any need for a 3e.
By the time a game reached 3e it should be pretty well worked out. If it goes to a 4e maybe it's because so many new sourcebooks, rules, etc have been added that there's a need to consolidate.
But to go from a 4e to a 5e should be at least a decade or so unless the 4e really messed up, and according to a friend of mine who plays D&D the 4e was a mess that turned D&D into a warcraft clone.
D&D has a history of making bad edition choices. One was the 2e that outlawed evil characters to appease the anti D&D crowd. Stupid, to try appeasing people who won't he satisfied as long as you exist at all.
Also, people who know the GW business model know that GW releases a new edition every 3-4 years just to bilk mo money out of players and maybe feel that D&D is going t0 pursue a similar "fuck the public" model and are expressing their displeasure with that perceived choice.
So I can see both side sof the 5e flap. I can address the issue rationally without excess snark, unlike some people. I can also address it without exploding into a paroxysm of rage.
BTW, I just added JDCorley to my twit filter.

Interesting theory, can you point to a RPG that's been financially successful forever with only two editions? Your friend is wrong in every way, but that buries the lede...a decade?! Your idea of the ideal development cycle is Duke Nukem Forever?! Me too! I fully support everyone using whatever tools they want to to enjoy their time on forums as much as they can.

I left a post on the ban thread asking if someone knew how to reach the guy. We'll see!

I got a response on RPG.net. Apparently Catastrophe is on twitter: http://twitter.com/catastrophegameWhatever the fuck that means. Because it is time for me to admit shamefully I don't really know how that works But if anyone feels like inviting him, I suppose that's a way?

Rabid 4venger outs RPG.net's unfair mod policy, gets banned. In other news: The Sky is Blue, Water is Wet, Women have Secrets, Who gives a fuck? Oh yeah, that's what this place needs.
