 Re: Gaming Distance.
Yeah Gaming is a serious part of my life. Other people I know like to hit the bar every weekend, and drink and party. They drop about 50 to a hundred in a weekend. I use that some money to entertain on game night, serving a good meal, and chipping in my share for booze. Our wives know we're being nerds, so they don't have to worry about shooting eight balls of crank, or drinking and chasing skirts. With two exceptions my players all live with in a few miles of my home. So drinking and driving isn't a worry-since several can just walk home if they get to that point, and don't want to stay here. (This rarely happens.)
But yeah I selected my home in part because of it's appeal for gaming.

 Re: Gaming Distance.
Had to look up the distance on Google maps: it's just under 24 miles. I'm in the north of the Houston sprawl, and other members of the group are in the south of the Houston sprawl, so we all meet as close to "in the middle" as we can.
A 24 mile drive is no big deal for Houston, though. If my wife and I go to the ballet or something (downtown), it's a good 26 miles.

 Re: Gaming Distance.
I'll drive around 50 miles or an hour or so each way to play in a good group.
Another player in our current group drives two plus hours each way to join us.
We game twice a month on average.

 Re: Gaming Distance.
I don't have a car, so I'd have to think about the question in terms of commute time rather than distance. I'd say anything beyond an hour I would seriously question whether I would want to participate. I played in a regular game where I had a 45-50 minute bike ride each way and that was quite acceptable, but I was single then.
Though sometimes, if the weather is nice and the location is interesting, a long bike ride can be part of the appeal. I played in a one-shot of 4e with the chattyDM who lives about an hour and ten minutes or so from me, but part of it is along a river trail and the other part in neighbourhoods I don't get to see much, so I was quite psyched to make the trip.

 Re: Gaming Distance.
I'm extremely lucky in that I found a face-to-face group that is like 2 miles from my house.

 Re: Gaming Distance.
According to Google Maps, I'm at 35.7 miles, but the vast majority of it is highway driving. I'm going against traffic driving to my game at 6 on Wednesdays, which is huge, but the local parts of my journey take longer heading in. 55 minutes in, on average, about 40-45 on the way back .

 Re: Gaming Distance.
I used to travel 45 miles to get to a game - on public transport so over two hours travel time!

There's no entry for "0". I have a custom game rtoom in my hosue and all games are played here, even the ones I don't run. It's pretty freaking sweet.

 Re: Gaming Distance.
Lol. Nice strategy. If you build it, they will come.

 Re: Gaming Distance.
Yeah, we did a lot of the work ourselves to build it and it stil cost thousands of dollars. Any time anyone runs a game there, it's like an awesome Return On Investment. (and I just saw my previous post. The next thing I'm renovating is my ability to spell) -Tom
