 Re: New Games
My group and I tend to play one game, although I'm not sure I'd ascribe that to some sort of misplaced fidelity. Rather, in our case at least, a lack of time is the major contributing factor. Between professional commitments, family, etc...we just don't have the time to do too much experimentation when it comes to games. And since this our free time we're loathe to invest in something that we don't know for sure we'll enjoy. In a perfect world we'd step outside our gaming bubble and try more, but that won't happen this week. Maybe next time? We'll see.
So for those of you who play a lot of new games how does your group handle this? Is there a consistency between sessions?

 Re: New Games
Much of what I run, though not all, is playtests for my own games. Though very different in particulars, these games use the same base engine,so much is familiar to my gamers - enough that I have no problems with players latching into the games, in spite of one being a SF game set on a showboat visiting different worlds, another being a game of fighter pilots in the Great War, and a third being assassins in a magical world of floating islands and giant birds. -clash

 Re: New Games
I don't buy that many games anymore. I finally realized that I was never going to get to play them all. While I have been tempted by FATE's Bulldogs! I have not yet bought anything for an RPG this year.
My next purchase will probably be some of the Hero Lab software for Pathfinder.
If I read or hear something extraordinary about a particular system, I might consider a purchase should it be within a genre that I enjoy.
My days of being a completist of a game line are certainly over. Too much expense for not enough reward. That is, unless you are a collector. And I am not a collector.

 Re: New Games
I am the same way. I only play what I know I am going to use, and the games I wont play/wont ever get played I sell off. These days I have a very trim collection and I get my money's worth out of the games I have

 Re: New Games
I've trimmed a lot of "fat" from the collection during the past seven years.

 Re: New Games
I did end up purchasing Hero Lab for Pathfinder along with the Advanced Player's Manual add-on and the three Bestiary modules last week. It was my first RPG related purchases of the year and a digital download at that. All the way to June without a single purchase?

 Re: New Games
I shot most of my load on:
DCC
GaryCon
GenCon
Only one of those is a game...and it was worth it...

 Re: New Games
It is so easy to blow a load of cash on GenCon. Far too easy.

 Re: New Games
Well....to be honest...it's only an estimate at this point. Well, that's not true...I did buy badges for me and the wife and kids....so that's four times a full badge spent already. But I'm lucky...no lodging costs. I plan on spending some of that savings, however, on stuff....in particular, I'm looking for specific dice for DCC and DCC/S&W/etc. materials from which to steal mercilessly.

 Re: New Games
I'm sure you will find the DCC dice in abundance. I didn't actually need any more dice when I went to GenCon 2010 and I still walked out with four new sets (two for me and two for my spouse).
